Riveroaks Orchestra
Sanctuary Orchestra
The Full Orchestra accompanies the congregational hymns
two Sunday mornings per month year round and (additionally) one Sunday evening from September through May. In addition, the orchestra is scheduled to play 2 preludes and accompany the Christmas and Easter cantatas (as needed). Members of the orchestra, as soloists or as ensembles, also accompany specific Choir pieces. In addition to Sundays, the orchestra rehearses one Saturday each month, September through May, and participates in the closing concert of favorites in May. As with the Choir and Handbell Choir, members of Riveroaks are welcome to join. Please see Terry Himebook. Friends of Riveroaks are able to join, but a viable profession of faith is required.
String Ensemble
The String Ensemble is a sub-set of the Full Orchestra. This group provides preludes twice each year, plus it is used frequently in accompanying vocal solos and/or ensembles.
Brass Ensemble
The Brass Ensemble accompanies the congregational singing once each month, provides preludes/postludes 2 or 3 times per year and is used at times to accompany the Choir.
Flute Ensemble
The Flute Ensemble (currently a quartet) rehearses as needed and provides preludes/introits 3 times per year.
Solo/Ensemble Opportunities
Soloists from the Orchestra are given opportunity to play preludes and/or introits.
Banjo Ensemble
A small collection of enthusiastic rookies gather each Wednesday at 4:30 PM to pick and grin on their banjos. Currently, we meet in the Music Directors office. Anyone is welcome to join us. Please bring a banjo with you.
