Community Groups

“You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1Pet2:9

Peter makes an incredible statement about the essential identity of every believer.  He is telling us that because of our union with Christ, we are not simply saved sinners in vertical relationship with God but that we have been brought together in horizontal union, collectively known as “a chosen race, a royal priesthood” and formed into a “holy nation”.  This incredibly high calling shows the world how the Gospel transforms everything about us.  We must be a new and better Community, shaped by the Gospel to the glory of Christ.

We are starting Community Groups at Riveroaks because we want the Gospel to penetrate every part of our lives -- work, play, worship, parenting, singleness, ministry, sickness, sadness, success, failure… EVERYTHING!  The best way for the Gospel to filter down into every part of our lives is through Christ’s gift of His Body, the Church.

Many have discovered the reality that it is often difficult to actually live the lives to which we’ve been called.  In an effort to make participation easier, we would like the Community Groups to be formed along geographical lines as much as possible.  We separated the greater Memphis area into 8 regions.  Each family choosing to participate in Community Groups will be placed in a group within their home region.

Additionally, two Community Groups will meet at the church building for those who would prefer to continue coming to the Sanctuary on Sunday evenings.  We will be as accommodating as possible with any additional requests for placement in a particular group.

Our groups have been formed, and you can see view our Group List here.

Not in a Community Group?  You can still sign up to be in one!
