Riveroaks This Week

Next Sunday, September 11, we will observe the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper during our evening worship service. Plan ahead for this time of remembrance.
 
Last chance to sign up for the Ladies’ Bible Study which starts this week! If interested, especially those of you with children, please place registration forms & checks in the basket near the Library no later than Sunday evening, September 4, or call Linda Hoekstra (759-1965)/Vita Swindell (757-9867).
 
Officer Selection Process for electing church officers begins in September as church members are invited to submit suggestions for elder, deacon and trustee. These recommendations should be made in writing and given to the Pastor or Clerk of Session, Rod Robison. You have until Sun., Sept. 25, to submit your recommendations. The following officers are completing their terms in this year. (Names underlined are ineligible for re-election.)
 Elder: Warren Barnes, Jim Gibson, Allen Pelletier
 Deacon: Jerry Butler, Ryan Porter, Jeff Scott, Roger VanderZwaag
 Trustee: Brad Harris, Robert Seay
 
November 11-13: Covenant Presbytery Youth Conference (Kingdom Conference: A Kingdom That Never Ends) for 7-12th grade students at Victory Ranch (Bolivar, TN)! Put this on your calendar! This will be our retreat over the school year.

Here are the Riveroaks Homeschool activities for September:
*September 9th – Field trip to Holly Springs for Hummingbird Migration
*September 9th & 23rd – Science Co-op at Riveroaks, 1-3 p.m.
*September 15th – Moms’ Coffee Night at Tricia French’s home, 7-9 p.m.
*September 16th – Field trip to Parkin Archeological State Park for Casqui Indian Days

WEDNESDAY, September 7
5:30pm   Wednesday Evening Meals resume in the Fellowship Hall. Following this meal, there will be a mini-presentation of all fall ministries which begin Wed., Sept. 14. The cost will be $3 (adults), $2 (3-10 yrs. old), & free (under 3 yrs.), family max. $10. Sept. 7 Menu: Chicken Tenders, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Salad, Rolls and Strawberry Shortcake.

THURSDAY, September 8
9:30am   Ladies’ Bible Study begins in the top floor of the Ed. Building.
7:00pm   Indelible Grace will be in concert @ First Evangelical Church. There are a set number of tickets, so please contact Nate soon if you are interested in going.

11:00am  A WIC Baby Shower for Crystal (& Betsie) Barnes will be hosted by Julie McDaniel (8955 Grovelawn Cove West, G’town). Crystal is registered at Babies R Us, Baby Depot, & Target. If you have questions or would like to help with food for the shower, please contact Kerry Newhouse (767-4024).
 
MONDAY, September 12
7:00pm   Night Circle will meet at the home of Jeanne Shields (7732 Hunters Run, G’town). All ladies are invited to a study of The Sermon on the Mount, Session 4, Matthew 6:1-18, pp. 125-152.
 
TUESDAY, September 13
10:00am  WIC Day Circle will resume meeting in the Fellowship Hall. They will be studying The Providence of God by R.C. Sproul ($5.00 books available). All women are invited to attend.
 
SUNDAY, September 18
12:15pm  There will be a Visitor Luncheon hosted by Gibson/Whitten Shepherding Groups which is designed to help us get better acquainted with Riveroaks visitors. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the 10:50 service.
